The Watch

What’s life without death? What’s courage without fear?
Though now you are gone; I can still feel you here.

Oh how I’d wish to see you once more,
Turn back time to how things were before.

With age and wisdom, I’ve learnt how to feel,
Those years that have passed; they soon let me heal.

This watch that I wear reminds me of you,
It lets me connect so I can reach through.

Forming a bond, like links in a chain,
Unbreakable, endless and confines the pain.

Memories of you are saved within time,
With each second past, you’re there by design.

When face to face, I’m full of joy,
I’m taken back to that small boy.

Although I was young, I felt love exude,
You’d enter a room and lighten the mood.

We’d play games at Christmas with you and my Dad,
Like scrums in the hallway, what great fun we had.

The time that has passed between you and I,
Grows day by day, I can’t quantify.

Your face is an ageless memory I hold,
Upon my wrist your stories are told.

The watch helps to remember, for I wear it dear,
It provides me with courage and banishes fear.

Keep ticking on now, long after your death,
I’ll carry on life with each vital breath.
