A poem about relapse

Relinquish the fear within your mind,
The world’s ahead, leave darkness behind.

Breathe in the air; release the pain,
Once more, my friend, you’ll soon be sane.

Although you’re encased within the shroud,
Reach out to me now; be vocal and loud.

From minute to minute is no way to live,
Try to be the one who forgives.

Those thoughts that warp and torture your soul,
Leave painful marks like burning coal.

Lurking like parasites, they deprive and drain,
Be rid of them now and take back the reins.

Work through this ache and guilt you feel,
Just know there’s always time to heal.

You’re kind and gentle, ignore all the noise,
Be true to yourself, regain your poise.

The cold you feel will soon dissipate,
The warmth that surrounds you will shun the hate.

Thirty years behind you in life,
For many more, you must aim to strive.

Whenever dark voices try to destroy,
Remember those moments you feel pure joy.

If feelings of ending it grow too strong,
I’m telling you now – you’ve done nothing wrong!

Don’t let your mind yield to all the abuse,
Resist the temptation; there’s too much to lose.

Unveil yourself to embrace the light,
Hit reset and continue the fight.
